Whats Up Chicken Butt...

I've probably missed all kinds of cool things here in Bloggerville the last week! I've just not had much to say and I've been sick this week..you know its been one of those weeks. Besides for the rare moments that I have nothing much to say its been pretty busy around here. Norm has about 45 acres of corn planted so far, and has mowed most of the wheat and alfalfa. I havent seen him much at all the last three days. Its kinda like that this time of year. We worked our last bunch of 70 some-odd calves this weekend with the help of a visiting farm hand...Leah brought her friend to stay the weekend. They had a great time and I had just as much fun having them both around. Each time I meet one of Leah's friends I'm so proud of the choices she makes with the people she hangs around with!
Most of the girls were loudmouths while they were being worked, they protested loudly which is funny cause the little bulls are basically quiet but those girls sure like to hollar their heads off!
You'd think we were hurting them, and all they got was their ears pierced with a fly tag and number tag!
This is Sir Loin (or Blackjack as Norm calls him his tag number is 21) Zeus wouldnt stand still long enough for a good pic of him.
Spring is in the air and summer is around the corner. Our Tulip Tree has bloomed along with the pesky dandilions.
The girls rode all day Sunday and the horses did beautifully! Even hot headed Bella! She definately rides better with another horse. They are all so beautiful now that they have shed winter hair. Everyone is slick and shiny! The girls even rode Molly, our Percheron! She hasnt been ridden in over 10 years and really doesnt know anything except how to look pretty, eat, hog al the attnetion, and used to drive. She was a perfect angel!!!! I was truly amazed at how she acted. Not a spook, aggrivation, or ill step at all. She did have to stop however and sniff the boots of her rider! She'd go from side to side, and sniff and you could see the wheels turning in her beautiful head thinking "WHY is this person on my back?? They have never done that! They are supposed to be on the ground feeding or petting me!!!!" It was so great to see that she is such an exceptional horse! She is foundered a little bit, but she can be ridden some and I think we need to teach her what to do so we can ride her!

Buck was at a loss without Bella and ran the legnth of the fencing the entire 4 hours they were out on the farm riding!
Well..hopefully I'll get back into the swing of things soon! Gonna head out with Mari and go flower shopping.....

Horses Horses and MORE Horses!

Today was fun...picked Leah up, and then we moved the horses around. Lots of musical chairs this weekend. We are working calves and moving the bulls, getting 3 of the calves from last year we didnt wean yet and putting them off to themselves. So in order to do all this and for Norm to make me happy, we moved alllllll the horses here to the house where I can see my babies ALLLL day every day! WOO HOO! I was excited as they were! (I posted some video at the end you MUST see!) So enjoy pictures for the day! I'll have more fun ones tomorrow...we are working calves (vaccinating and that dreaded castration of the young bulls! Oh goody! We sure know how to have fun around here!!!!)Here is Molly, Buck and Bella waiting in the trailor to be unloaded in their new home...I dont think Molly has ever been here to this pasture behind the house! King and Jack are in there now, and we are slowly going to add the others one by one so there is no fighting or bickering too much. Buck and Bella above and below! My! Isnt Bella All pretty prancing around!

Well there she goes again, camera hog! She demands attention! Here are all three "horsin around!"
Now THIS is what I call having fun and kicking your heels up!Awww my pretty boy Buck! And again.....having a good time exploring and wearing themselves out!Now its movie time, grab your popcorn and a coke and sit back and enjoy!

I'll blog more tomorrow and tell about our fun day and answer comments from the last 2 posts! Sorry guys been busy busy busy! Will visit you as well...good night all!

Hi Ya'll!

Couldn't think of a good title for my post! So hi ya'll it is! LOL
Its been a busy weekend. Cleaning house, checking cows and calves, pulling a calf on Saturday, worrying about Georgia foaling, grocery shopping, out to eat with friends, soap soap and more soap, feeding the furries, ummm I think thats all for me in a nutshell!
Georgia, as I've told you in my last post, is very very close to foaling! I'm just so excited but I'm worried i'll miss the action! I cant wait to see Radish when he is born....You know - HorseRadish! LOL That still cracks me up. Leah definitely has a sense of humor doesnt she!
I didn't know it but I've got a bigger saddle for King already over here at the house! DUH moment again! (I've had a lot of those lately) sometimes I wonder where in the world I left my brain.
I havent taken any pictures lately, been so cold I've hated to go outdoors. I sure wish warmer weather would arrive! I just absolutely hate the cold.
So I've done a lot of indoor chores one of which is making soap, my kitchen smells sooooo good right now!
I think that Pepper takes Sundays off from laying, so far the last several Sundays there have been no eggs...it is the day of rest ya know! Silly bird!
Calf count:
28 babies in all as of 6:00pm today.
Three of which we have lost...which I've already posted about, and 1 cow was calving when we checked this evening, baby hasnt came yet, but she is an old pro and should have no problems at all so we arent too worried. We'll get another calf count tomorrow.
I'm really worn out but getting the munchies...bought a lot of healthy food at the grocery, veggies and fruit to snack on. My goal is 20 pounds in 90 days....I begin exercising on the treadmill tomorrow, and walking outside when its warm. Thinking I'll dig up my weight watchers stuff too. I've gained too much weight! I'm not happy about that at all.
our neighbor came by today to give me the KY goat registry. She is weird. She never comes outside, has a daughter that has been home schooled but only seen out of the house on two occasions, she is painting for a portfolio, but the mom told us today how she tells the girl how to lay out things and decide what to paint and how. The mom doesnt paint....hmmmm can you say controlling? An artist should never have to be told how and what to paint. She felt she had to tell me all about goats however, she isnt really informed, her way is totally different than my friends here, whom have healthy and happy goats and MUCH more info on raising them. She said she tried to breed but never mentioned if she had a live birth..I dont think she did by the way she talked. I was NOT impressed one bit, in fact she was really WEIRD, did I say that already, well she is weird enough to say it again. She is one of those people who know everything, and controls the conversation and her way is the only way. I cant tell you enough just how weird she is. LOL Okay onto something else.
Well actually, I have nothing else, I'm so tired and hungry I'm gonna eat some carrots and head for bed. I've read blogs this morning, but Blogger didn't co-operate and let me leave any comments, I hope to get by tomorrow and speak my peace! LOL
Arent you lucky! ha ha!
See ya guys soon!
Love
Rae
